Why convert PNG to JPG?
PNG stores every pixel losslessly, which is exactly what you want for a logo with sharp edges and exactly what you do not want for a photograph with millions of subtly different colours. That is why a screenshot of a photo is so much bigger than the photo itself. JPG throws away detail your eye cannot resolve anyway, and for photographic content the difference is invisible while the file shrinks dramatically. The one thing you give up is transparency: JPG has no alpha channel, so any see-through areas are filled with white.
When this conversion is the right call

- Job portals, exam forms and government sites that reject PNG or cap uploads at a few hundred KB

FAQ
How much smaller will my file get?
For photographs, usually 80–95% smaller. For flat graphics, logos or text screenshots the saving is much less, and PNG may actually be the better format to keep.
Will the quality visibly drop?
For photos, no — we use a high-quality preset (0.92) where the loss is invisible at normal viewing size. For images with hard edges, text or line art, JPG can add faint smudging around the edges. Keep those as PNG.
Is my image uploaded anywhere?
No. The conversion happens entirely in your browser. Your image never leaves your device.
What is the maximum file size?
There's no hard limit — it depends on your device's memory. Most photos under 50 MB convert in under a second.
What happens to transparency in PNG / WEBP?
JPG does not support transparency. Transparent pixels are filled with white in the converted JPG. If you need transparency, use the JPG-to-PNG or WEBP-to-PNG converters instead.
